An accident on the motorway meant our scheduled speaker was unable to reach Newbury, so there was a late switch to a quiz for the evening.
The theme for the questions for appropriately sailing related, but that didn’t necessarily make them easy. Some had clear cut answers, while others generated more discussion than anticipated.
The most appropriate knot to tie two ropes of differing sizes wasn’t controversial, but the right actions that should be taken in potential emergency situations caused a level of disagreement. The exact wording of the question having led to differing interpretations.
Collision regulations were tested, as were knowledge of different types of boats (Schooners and Ketch) and rarer parts of boats.
