In a change from the traditional single night Rallies, the Autumn Rally was scheduled for two nights in Bembridge.  The first of the boats actually arrived on Thursday, but most used the morning high water on Friday to gain access to the Harbour.

More boats than originally expected had opted to take advantage of the longer stay, so there were over 30 people for the evening BBQ.  There are a few non-retirees in the fleet, who still had work commitments to consider, so Navy Blues arrived by the late tide, with Vega and DragonFly joining on Saturday.

The Rear Commodore – Offshore had organised perfect motoring weather for most arrivals, but Navy Blues had enjoyed 15 knots on the beam for most of the way.  That was better than the Saturday arrivals, who’d suffered distinctly lumpy seas. There were also attendees who opted to travel by car. Apparently the wind was too strong for even the hardiest of sailers to sail from the east coast!

There were a mixture of activities chosen for Saturday, with the more energetic choosing a lengthy hike, others taking a bus to a nearby vineyard, while a few enjoyed an impromptu vodka tasting. They ensures everyone was ready for the traditional tea and cakes on the pontoon in the afternoon.

The evening was spent at Brading Haven Yacht Club, where the Commodore and his wife gave us a very warm welcome, followed by a delicious meal and a chance to catch up with friends.
