Our Ocean’s Broken Heart, is based on Doina’s sailing voyages to the Arctic and Pacific with her father Jimmy Cornell and her two teenage children.

They attempted the Northwest Passage and then re-traced their steps to Tuvalu, where she had visited as a child on their boat in the 1970s. Doina will include some of the science and community projects the Cornell family, and other sailors, undertook, and the threats the ocean faces today due to climate change and pollution.

Doina spent her childhood sailing round the world with her family.

She has worked most of her life with the Cornell family business, alongside her parents Gwenda and Jimmy and her brother Ivan, organising sailing events and publishing books.

Doina co-authored the World Cruising Handbook with Jimmy and she has published two books of her own, Child of the Sea and Our Ocean’s Broken Heart.
