We were delighted to welcome the return of Tom Cunliffe for a fascinating talk, albeit in a virtual format.  Tom’s reputation goes before him, and as expected the turnout from Club members and guests was high, with well over a hundred people listening to Tom’s anecdotes.

He entertained us with tales of his voyage to America in the 1980’s, via the less common Northern route, by way of Norway and Iceland.  He’d been inspired by old Viking routes, and the prospect of taking the ‘coastal path’ to America…

Having been unsuccessful in the inclusion of Greenland within his original passage, Tom was thrilled to have the opportunity to visit several years later on another expedition.  It’s a long way to go to get fresh ice for your Whiskey, but sounded like it was worth the effort.
