Having been the guest of honour at the 40th anniversary celebrations, Tom Cunliffe returned to Newbury for our 50th year.  With a lifetime of sailing stories, Tom has a vast array of tales at his disposal, but on this occasion focused on his ‘Confessions of a Yachtmaster Examiner’.

I don’t think anyone in the room was left in any doubt that Tom would have been a formidable (albeit fair-minded) examiner, who suitably challenged the candidates to ensure they had the right level of competence.  That said, there might have been a couple of sighs of relief when he said he’d now retired!
