With Ian Maclean of D-Day Lepe Heritage Group
Saturday 26th October 2024 10.30am at Lepe
To complement our evening talks and rally programme, the committee thought it would a nice idea for a day out without boats being directly involved!
Lepe, near the entrance to the Beaulieu River, was at the centre of operations to support the D-Day landings which is the theme of our visit.

We will learn about the launching of Mulberry Harbours and logistics of maintaining and supplying the massive numbers of landing craft which had been moored and prepared in the river at Lepe and much more.
Our host, Ian Maclean will walk and talk with us pointing out the many D-Day features.

Meet at Lepe Country Park Cliff Top car park at 10.30am sharp, meet Ian and walk to the exhibition centre.
We will be guided through the Heritage Centre exhibition where Ian will talk us through the exhibits.
Walk amongst the D-Day remains including the Phoenix caissons, etc. on our way to the ‘Lookout’
The ‘Lookout’ Café will be open but, as we are unable to book tables, you may wish to take the precaution of bringing your own flask and sandwiches!
