Ski Trip – Jan 2020

Another successful ski trip, thanks to impeccable organisation from ” Le Pisteur Pete” the weather and snow conditions were fantastic and the pistes and lifts were very quiet – what more can you ask for.
With an exclusive NYC booking filling Chalet Rikiki with 22. It provided fantastic access to the pistes, an open fire with plenty of wood and all rooms with on suite. Evening meals and endless wine were provided on 5 nights, with restaurants booked early for the other two but the ever organised Le Pisteur Pete.
With a good balance of skiing abilities, the skiers split into various groups over the week.
The “Relaxed” team of 7 booked a group lesson for 3 days. They were content doing their own thing at their own pace, even with pressure to get to St Martin-de-Belleville, and enjoyed their week on the plentiful blue runs that Courchevel and Mèribel has to offer.

A small group pounded the slopes and legs hard all day, managing the 7 peaks. Even with begrudged toilet stop taking valuable time and compulsory lunch and beer stop it was completed with 60mins to spare for the last connecting lift.

Once again the Uncle Alberto was contended for, with some early candidates.

Hire skis being ordered in a ski shop that turned out to be in a resort 50 miles away, an attempt to take out a ski instructor on a button lift and trying to use the previous year’s ski pass to name a few.
For the second year in a row it was a ‘wrong ski’ incident, totted with some other minor misdemeanours that took the award. The acceptance speech, keeping the award light-hearted as it’s intended, also set the bar very high for next years lucky recipient.
On the back of another successful trip, Chalet Rikiki has been booked for 3rd January 2021. With, at the time of writing, 19 of the 22 places taken there are still 3 places available so if you wish to join us then please contact “Le Pisteur Pete” Hetherington for more details.
