23 members of the Club took an early morning flight on the 6th January to France and the ski slopes of the Trois Vallees area based at Courchevel La Tania. We had a total spectrum of ability from a non-skier to those who thought nothing of trying to conquer seven peaks in a day (though only achieving two).

It soon became clear that the noble tradition of the Club, where social activities take precedence, swung into action on arrival; a very enjoyable afternoon was spent in the local pub. All good things had to come to an end and the next day it was time to suit up and hit the slopes. Those confident in their abilities disappeared into the distance whilst the rest of us had a quieter time on the gentler slopes. Many of us had group lessons with instructors who taught us gently and competently, pointing out that techniques had changed in the 40 years since some had last skied and enabling us to tackle more challenging runs.
